Description
Massive Attack The Spoils Vinyl
After returning earlier in the year via the “Ritual Spirit EP”, Massive Attack keep the good stuff coming with two more brand new songs ‘The Spoils’ and ‘Come Near Me’. Both tracks were written and produced by Massive Attack’s Daddy G and collaborator Stew Jackson and feature vocal contributions from Hope Sandoval and Ghostpoet respectively.
We’re in classic Massive Attack territories on the A-side as “The Spoils” delivers the kind of melancholic downbeat which swept through “Mezzanine” and “100th Window” with beauty and sadness both alive and well in the sweeping strings, subtle electronics and sublime vocals from Hope Sandoval. On the flip “Come Near Me” treats us to the other end of the Massive Attack spectrum, filtering hip hop and bass culture through the kind of gloomy, brooding sonics which made up the other side of “Mezzanine” and came to the fore on “Heligoland”. Growling bass, mordant beats and serrated guitars sit under the mumbling stumbling vocals from Ghostpoet. ‘The Spoils’ will be pressed onto a beautiful 12″ Heavyweight (180 gram) Lavender coloured vinyl housed in a 3mm spine sleeve printed 4 colour process + special screen printed 5th colour Yves Klein blue and matt UV varnish designed by Hingston Studios and Robert Del Naja. All manufactured with pride by The Vinyl Factory Manufacturing Ltd.
